One of the most popular hobbies today is taking still images of various scenes. This is an art referred to as photography. However the term photography covers a broad area of interest. It does not simply end with taking photos of scenic and memorable occasions. It extends beyond the hobby of clicking the camera shutter. In fact it goes in different types, the most common of which are herein described for our further understanding.
Perhaps the most valuable type of photography is that which is primarily intend to give information. This goes well with Photojournalism. In this type of photography, the photographer is required to capture the necessary facts needed to deliver an accurate visual report. Most commonly it is handed over to professionals since it highly sensitive.
Another informative type is that which is used to document historical, social or political events for posterity. This is known as documentary photography. Like the outputs of Photojournalism, the end results of documentary photography also tell a story.
Action photography refers to a kind of photography used mainly to capture moving subjects. Usually, this type of photography is applicable when taking pictures of a sport games. It is considered the fastest and most exciting type of photography.
It is also true especially for creative photographers that minute objects can become excellent subjects for a photograph. If this occurs, then macrophotography is used. To be more particular, this field is inclined into taking pictures of small objects and playing with lenses.
If there is macropotography which enlarges microscopic objects, there is also microphotography. This field focuses on taking pictures of very small objects which escape the naked eye.
When it comes to human subjects, among the most familiar would be glamour photography which is sometimes mistaken as pornography but definitely is not. Glamour photography is aimed at taking pictures of subjects (usually scantily clad women) in suggestive poses.
